The Tethera Mens is a classic 3-4 season boot with an incredibly low weight, which is specifically designed for use on the high lakeland fells or Munroe mountains of Scotland. It incorporates many of the features found in the Alt-Berg Tethera mountain boot – but the lighter weight sole and lighter weight upper design make it suitable for a much wider range of uses from Coast to Coast walks to higher mountain footpaths.

The Tri-Flex midsole is an Alt-Berg design and is only used in Alt-Berg boots. All boots are built on the midsole – it is the foundation of the boot. The midsole controls the underfoot support, the toe spring and the flex of the boot. The Tri-Flex Midsole uses a unique three dimensional insole design with an N.C. controlled polymer nylon mix to achieve the optimum flex for different categories of boots. Good bootmaking starts with the midsole – customers can’t see it, it is built into the boot – but it is the most important component of the boot and it makes a huge difference to how the boot feels and performs in wear.

Ever wanted to know where the name comes from? Yan Tan Tethera is a traditional sheep counting system from Northern England.
