Petzl Reverso Belay Device
The fifth generation Reverso is a lightweight, multi-purpose belay/abseil device, which delivers superbly using one rope or two, from the thinnest on the market right up to a chunky 10.5mm. In Reverso (or guide) mode, one or two seconds can be safely belayed, and the old problem of the device locking under load has been solved simply and effectively.
The aluminium body means that the device weighs in at only 57g, and although this may have an effect on durability, Petzl do guarantee the device for three years. Optimum performance can be guaranteed using a karabiner with a broad circular radius for smooth rope management.
- Weight: 57g
- Ultra-light design with hot-forged aluminium
- Can belay the leader, one or two seconds and can be used for abseiling.
- Independent and simultaneous belaying of two seconds in Reverso mode
- Multi-pitch lead swapping (team of 2), offers a quick transition from Reverso mode to belaying the leader
- Rope compatibility
– compatible with dynamic single ropes 8.5 to 10.5 mm (11mm possible, depending on the rope’s suppleness)
– compatible with dynamic half ropes 7.1 to 9.2 mm
– compatible with dynamic twin ropes 6.9 to 9.2 mm - V-shaped friction channels:
– give greater braking power on thin ropes
– adapt the braking power on larger diameter ropes
– increase the braking pressure on the ropes in Reverso mode - The asymmetric side grooves:
– increase the braking power for leader or top-rope falls, or while abseiling.
– improve rope glide through device when taking up slack - Hole for releasing the device under load: allows a loaded device in Reverso mode to be easily and gradually released with only a karabiner
- Rope friendly, facilitates rope manoeuvres and abseiling:
– will not twist the ropes regardless of the mode used
– separates the two strands of rope when belaying and abseiling on two ropes - Intuitive use:
– Reverso mode aluminium attachment hole is easy to identify
– keeper cable keeps the device from moving up the rope when belaying and reduces risk of losing the device
– usage diagrams (standard belay and Reverso modes) engraved on device - Certification(s): UIAA
- Use with symmetrical locking karabiners such as the Wild Country Ascent or Petzl OK to maximise efficiency
