The Buffalo Mountain is a long established design classic that’s hard to categorise – is it a softshell, a fleece, a baselayer, an insulated jacket? The Mountain Shirt is designed to be worn next to the skin, where the deep pile interior feels super soft and wicks moisture away. The outer Pertex layer is windproof and water-resistant, yet highly breathable. Venting zips allow you to rapidly dump heat on the way up by exposing some bare skin, and simply zip them shut if you get chilly – no faffing to change layers. It’s not waterproof, but when worn as intended you probably won’t get wet, as the heat generated by your body in motion tends to keep the wet away from your skin.
